Murrini

Glassblowing artists use 'murrini' which are canes of different colored glass that are layered usually in a ring and then cross sections are cut and applied to create a pattern on the glass piece. The result is almost kaleidoscopic as the rings fuse with each other and form hexagons and similar shapes. As I explored this ring/peacock method, I converged onto something that very much resembles the look of murrini on canvas instead of glass.

Peacock in Bronze

The feathers of a peacock are nothing short of stunning. I love how so many of the blues and greens blend into metallic tones. This piece is one of a few that are inspired by the play of colors and shapes seen on a peacock feather.

On Fire

On Fire is meant to represent the base of a flame. The depiction is so realistic that it attracted a little fly which is now fossilized within the painting!

Mermaid Dream

Ever wonder what mermaid dreams look like? I loved mixing these blues and greens in a gradient. The photos don't capture it but the paints have a shimmer to them. I mixed in a healthy amount of gold as we move closer to the surface of the water. This is a 24inx30in single ring pour. This piece is now living in British Columbia.

Scorpion

This is a 12x12 piece that I created about a year ago. I love combining Prussian Blue with copper. The colors just work and call my name!

Heart of Gold

This beauty is my interpretation of what a 'heart of gold' looks like. <3

Scarlet in Flight

Scarlet in Flight was inspired by a book cover (The Aviary Cocktail Book) that's been sitting on my coffee table for a couple of years. I've been staring at the black cover with its rainbow of covers and slowly a vision for a piece has been forming. After a couple of attempts, I've finally been able to capture how the progression and movement of colors make me feel in Scarlet in Flight. I just love the vibrancy of the colors, the movement in the center of the painting and the depth and solitude evoked by in the blues and reds on the fringes. The name Scarlet in Flight comes from the painting evoking movements of the feathers of the scarlet macaw. I'm in love. SOLD

Sunset Over the Pacific

Prussian Blue, Coral, and Antique Gold

Thunder Rolls

This piece is inspired by the song of the same name by the amazing Garth Brooks. Thunder Rolls is made with Prussian blue, light blue, and antique gold using double ring pour technique.
